{"id":25,"date":"2005-10-06T09:11:07","date_gmt":"2005-10-06T14:11:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/wahlers.com.br\/claus\/blog\/deng-20-roadmap\/"},"modified":"2006-05-22T12:27:29","modified_gmt":"2006-05-22T17:27:29","slug":"deng-20-roadmap","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/wahlers.com.br\/claus\/blog\/deng-20-roadmap\/","title":{"rendered":"DENG 2.0 Roadmap (first draft)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Macromedia <a href=\"http:\/\/www.macromedia.com\/devnet\/flex\/articles\/flex2_intro.html\">announced<\/a> the Flash Player 8.5 today, featuring a completely new virtual machine (AVM2), E4X, RegExp, Binary Sockets and W3C DOM Events.<\/p>\n<p>Flash Player 8.5 (along with the Flex 2 Framework and Flex Builder 2) will be released as public alpha on October 17th.<\/p>\n<p>This marks the beginning of the development of DENG 2.0, a completely refactored DENG version targeted for Flash Player 8.5 and above.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Features i plan for DENG 2.0<\/strong> (incomplete, vague, and subject to change, just to give you a rough overview):<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improved performance<\/li>\n<li>Flex 2.0 Integration, targeted for AVM2<\/li>\n<li>100% compliant CSS 3 parser<\/li>\n<li>Compliant implementations of SVG-T, XForms 1.1<\/li>\n<li>Better support for XHTML, SMIL, XFrames etc.<\/li>\n<li>Support for subsets of XUL<\/li>\n<li>Support for W3C DOM<\/li>\n<li>Better CSS box model implementation (DENG currently doesn&#8217;t support absolute\/relative positioning and inline-boxes, the tables implementation is not perfect, etc.)<\/li>\n<li>Better CSS line box model implementation (DENG uses the native TextField object of the Flash Player to render inline text.
